Who We Are

Shoes for kids donation event

We are a 501(C)3, non-profit organization who provides shoes for kids in Ashe County, NC.  Donations are our only funding source.  100% of donations go to the purchase of shoes for kids.  SHOES FOR KIDS started by delivering one pair of shoes to an elementary school in 2013.  As we begin our twelfth year of operation we have shoe closets in each Ashe County school, each childcare facility, the Department of Social Services, and Disaster & Recovery DSS Hurricane Relief Center.  Our operating expenses have grown from $30 to over $80,000 per year. Our mission would not be possible without your support.

We  are SHOES FOR KIDS and we will not rest until every needy child in Ashe County, NC is provided the necessity of properly fitting, season appropriate shoes.

The Growing Problem

Our story never gets old. Our mission is permanently unceasing. We put shoes on needy children's feet and those children's feet grow every single year. As one class of senior high school students graduates, another kindergarten class is ushered in. To accomplish our mission, we liaison with school officials to identify students. We then, provide the footwear in a confidential manner.

More Testimonials

Shoes for kids letter

SHOES FOR KIDS received the following thank you note after a young man in middle school received a new pair of shoes.

“Thank you for everything you do for all of us. You help us all so much. Here is some money to help you for helping us. I know it's not much, but it’s all I got.”

Enclosed in his envelope was a one dollar bill.

SHOES FOR KIDS shoe Closet

"I can not take my boots off because I can't get them back on."

For this child the custodian was called to CUT the boots off of the child's feet. Thankfully, we have a shoe closet in every school.

Therefore, SHOES FOR KIDS
was able to provide new boots and tennis shoes for this young man that fit property.

Comments From A School Councilor

"I just fitted a boy for a pair of boots.
While he was changing shoes I noticed he was wearing 6 pairs of socks on each foot. the boots he had were hand-me-downs and were 2 sizes too big. He was thrilled to walk away with new boots that fit him perfectly."
